Lift with you KNEES bitch!

Ok kids, I'm closing up shop again for a while. Starting the move back to Valley today!

And I hereby decree that until what time, if any, that I return, the Scarecrow by virtue of his highly superior Brains, shall rule in my stead, assisted by the Tin Man by virtue of his magnificent Heart, and the Lion by virtue of his Courage. Obey them as you would me......

Sad Day in the Batcave...

When I think back to when I first started getting into comics many years ago, there are several names that stick out in my mind as the people responsible for the love that I've had for the medium for almost 20 years now. Sadly, another of those names is no longer with us, Dick Giordano passed away today.

You can read all about his wonderful career in comics here.

Single Greatest Cameo of ALL Time

I've seen Justing Long in lots of movies, but I have never been as impressed with him as I was in Kevin Smith's "Zack and Miri make a Porno". I've seen this scene about a thousand times, and I still laugh every single time. Brandon Routh is also good, but Justin Long just steals this scene, and comes pretty damn close to stealing the entire movie. Hands down the greatest cameo of all time.

The Best There is...

You guys remember the last time a comic starring "the best there is at what he does" himself, Mr. Wolverine, was actually good? Me neither! The last thing I remember enjoying was Greg Rucka's run back when Wolverine only had 1 ongoing (*gasp*) and it went through a relaunch, getting a new #1.

To say that Wolverine is a bit over-used in the Marvel Universe is the most monumental understatement one can make when referencing comics today. In fact it's gotten to the point that I believe the only two books left in the world that he doesn't appear in are the phone book and the bible.

All that being said, I thought it important to note that despite my pull list dwindling recently, Wolverine did manage to keep himself on there with one of his 3 current ongoing series', Weapon X. This of course has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I love the character, or that it's important to anything else I read, no friends, I read this comic book simply because Jason Aaron is a God amongst comic book writers and I worship anything he writes.

Weapon X is the newest of the Wolverine titles, with only 11 issues in so far, but believe me when I tell you that in those 11 issues, more interesting and awesome things have happened than have happened in the entirety of the Marvel U in the last 5 years. Highlights include Wolverine fighting an elite group of assassins that have laser claws like his and guns that shoot bullets that are filled with 37 different kinds of cancer, Wolverine being brainwashed by Dr. Hurt, who was using him to murder people so that he could collect their brains and use them to build a bomb, yes a bomb, made out of human brains, and of course the image above, Oh the glorious image above....

I'm going on record as saying that the current arc, which is only one issue in so far, is going to be the greatest Wolverine story since Warren Ellis' "Not Dead Yet", and coming from me that's some high praise indeed. This story is about somebody sending an army of Deathloks back from the future to kill Captain America, who himself has just returned from the "dead" courtesy of Ed Brubaker. Unfortunately for Wolverine, he's caught in the middle of things as the first Deathlok attacks Cap while he and Wolverine are bar hopping the globe in celebration of Cap's return.

Get that? It's kinda like the first Terminator movie, only an army of Deathlok's are the Terminator, Captain freakin' America is Sarah Connor, and Wolverine is Kyle Reese. How the hell could anybody not want to read this?

Anybody who has asked me about comics lately has full knowledge of my massive man-crush on Aaron. He just finished up the most interesting Ghost Rider run I've ever read with the mini "Heaven's On Fire", which the tag line alone (Save the Anti-Christ, save the world) demanded I purchase, he's bringing Punisher Max back to the glory days of polar bear pnnching style of Garth Ennis, and he's writing what I'm told is the cream of the current Vertigo crop, Scalped, about an FBI agent going undercover in an illegal Indian casino. Rest assured I'm getting caught up on Scalped soon through trade.

The thing about Aaron's comics that seems to be missing from so many others right now is what makes him such a great writer, they're FUN to read. Even amidst all the "Dark" bullshit Marvel is shoveling out right now in seemingly every comic they publish, Aaron's comics seem to exist off on their own little corner of the Universe. The Jason Aaronverse, a magical place where comics are fun and Wolverine can be awesome.

Infinite Playlist - Yeah Boy and Doll Face

So one day I'll probably go get a new mouse so I can go back to adding pictures and such to my posts, but today isn't that day. Today is another addition to Mister Bones's Infinite Playlist!

I'm fairly new to Pierce the Veil, I only have their debut album "A Flair for the Dramatic", but it's good stuff all the way through. Not sure if they've released anything else though, I should probably look into that at some point. This is probably my favorite track of theirs, hope you concur.

Since U Been Gone pt. 2

Part two on my catching you up on all things Bones is all about gaming! My new job being an evening shift job gives me my whole day to do as I please, and as the weather here in the wonderful state of Alabama has chosen to closely mimic that of Seattle of late, coupled with the fact that daytime television sucks, I've had ample time to game.

Borderlands! Can't say enough good things about this game, the marriage of an FPS and RPG has produced an offspring that is an absolute wealth of entertainment. I've literally spent hours at a time doing "just one more quest", once you get started on this one it's hard to stop. I'm also a big fan of post-apocalyptic locales, and of course the cel-shaded look is just comic booky enough for me to love. I had at one point gotten every achievement in the game, and was still playing. Finished up the greatest DLC of all time, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, skipped Mad Moxxi's Underdome, and I'm currently working on The Secret Armory of General Knoxx and leveling my solider up to 61. Anybody want to give me a hand with any of this, or Mad Moxxi's when I get around to buying it, let me know. OH, and be very, very quiet....I'm hunting Loot Midgets....

Ghostbusters! Wow, this game SUCKS. It is seriously awful. I don't like the controls, I don't like the story, I don't like that it's single player only and the AI characters drop like panties on prom night, forcing you to spend most of your time helping them up, only to see yourself knocked down and watching as the AI is once again taken down, forcing you to re-start at a checkpoint you got to 30 minutes ago. I played it long enough to kill the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, which was level 2 I think, and I haven't played it since. Luckily I got it used from Gamefly for less than $10.

Bioshock 2! If you liked the first one, you'll like this one. That's the overall feeling I got from Bioshock 2. It was once again a great game, though it was over way too quickly. The Big Sister was awesome, though handled differently in the final game than I'd originally read (I thought there was just one, and you had to fight her off throughout the whole game). I'm currently on my second playthrough, working on a couple of trophies I missed out on. Good stuff here, but the multiplayer is completely forgettable, as predicted by yours truly.

Heavy Rain! This game absolutely blew me away. I was alreadly looking forward to it after reading articles and previews for it, then the demo dropped and my excitement went through the roof. Once I finally got my hands on it, this game had me wrapped around it's little controller and I couldn't put it down. I made finding and capturing the Origami Killer my one and only purpose in life, so much so that there were days that I seriously thought about calling out of work to keep playing (came the closest on the day that I discovered who the killer was about 5 minutes before time to leave). I would absolutely love to see more games in this vein, sure shooters and survival horror will always be my genres of choice, but I like different as well, and Heavy Rain was certainly that. Finished my first playthrough with around 60% of the trophies, and have gone back and replayed several chapters differently not only for trophies, but to see how the scenes could've played out differently. Amazing game here.

Modern Warfare 2! I gotta admit, my interest in this one was luke-warm at best, as evident by how long it took me to bother grabbing it, but once I did this game absolutely floored me. As far as military shooters go, the campaign on MW2 is the cream of the crop. How many games throw you into the role of "member of x squad stuck in x counrty fighting against militants"? Most of them, right? Well not this one, here you're thrown right smack dab in the heart of the USA, experiencing intense firefights at Burger King and Taco Bell! It's like Red Dawn the game, and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. Spec Ops ended up being quite a bit of fun too, as I love me some co-op and it was designed for two players only and I have way more luck finding one other person to play with than i do 3. The other multiplayer I also spent some time with, and while fun, was nothing I hadn't seen before so I lost interest fairly quickly.

God of War III! I'm currently working my way through the third and final (yeah ok whatever) game in Kratos' quest for vengeance against Zeus and the Gods of Olympus. I'm not too terribly far into it being that it just came out Tuesday, but what I have played has been EPIC. That seems to be the term for this game when most people talk about it, and so far I'm in agreement. I do have a minor gripe, which has caused me to go "tourettes" on it a couple times already, and that's the controls. Same old thing if you've played GoW before, while the controls for combat are tight and work just fine, there are times when the platforming levels are a pain in the ass due to non-responsive button presses. I've died probably 30 times in the damn game so far, and only maybe 10 of those were from enemies or bosses, the other 20 or so were from falling from ledges because the double-jump failed to happen, or Kratos refused to spread his wings. I'm grinding through it though, the game is just too good not to play.

And I guess that about wraps that up. I still need to pick up Battlefield Bad Company 2, and I have mild interest in Final Fantasy XIII for some reason, along with DarkSiders. Not sure what I'll be playing next though.

Infinite Playlist - Casablanca Sucked Anyways

Just to prove that I'm back, and ready to throw a big middle finger to MySpace Music, Mister Bones's Infinite Playlist returns!!!

In honor of my FINALLY getting to see A Day to Remember live in a couple of weeks, and also in honor of the fact that for some reason lately if it isn't ADtR or I Set My Friends on Fire, I don't want to hear it, I'm offering up Casablanca Sucked Anyways.

I've decided to go the Youtube route for IP posts from now on, so apologies in advance to Youtube fans for when MySpace buys them out. It ain't my fault. Enjoy the song!

Since U Been Gone

Son, we live in a world that has blogs, and those blogs have to be guarded by ninjas with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Binky? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the bloggers. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved blogs. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves blogs! You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on this blog! You need me on this blog! We use words like Honor, Code, Loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent blogging something. You use them as a punchline! I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to an internet who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very blog that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said "Thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a keyboard, and start a blog. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

Now that we've got that out of the way, what's been going on? Quite a bit actually. Ok maybe not "quite" but at least a little bit has been going on. Let's get caught up, shall we?

I quit the hospital! Well, not "quit" exactly, I'm still employed there under prn status, meaning they just call me when they need me. I took a job with the T-Mobile National Return Center in LaGrange, GA as a refurb tech. This wasn't a decision I made lightly, but after a lot of thought, I decided it was time to do something else. The fact is that I was feeling stuck at Lanier, and where I was at was all I was ever going to be there, unless I did something. So, the T-Mobile thing came up and I went for it. I'm working the hours that I need in order to go back to school in the Fall, so while I may not be able to watch Chuck on Monday nights anymore, or have any sort of a social life (because I sooooo had one before, pfft), at least I'm trying to do something to better my situation. Or at least that's the plan, we'll see if it falls completely through like most of my other ones.

I quit the comic book store! This one I actually did quit, though I did offer to fill in for John when I could if he needed me to. Paying for comics sucks, but my time with my babies is limited, and there's no way I would rather be spending time in the comic book store if it's time I could be spending with them. As such my pull list took a bit of a hit, nothing too serious though. I'm still reading too much, just a little less too much.

I'm moving again! This is my last month back in Roanoke, thank "imaginary being some believe responsible for our creation". I hate it here, I hated it here before I left the first time. Nothing has changed. This place is like a cancer. I'm heading back to Valley to be closer to the kids, and at the same time I will get to do a little less driving to and from work, so it's really a win/win/win. I'm two weeks away from the move, can't wait.

I broke my mouse! In a fit of rage brought on by my missing the stupid ass UPS lady three days in a row, I decided that slamming my mouse on my computer desk would make me feel better. It worked, but now my mouse doesn't. I'm unable to right click, which SUCKS. So I'll be buying a new mouse soon. This isn't really all that important, I just wanted you to know how much harder blogging was without the ability to right click.

That's pretty much it for now I guess. I'm coming back just in time to leave again until I get internet up and running at the new place. Expect a return to most of my old favorites, yes including the infinite playlist *grumble fucking myspace grumble*, probably won't be doing comic of the week and I know you're disappointed, but we'll just have to see how it goes. The fact of the matter is, while I was quite upset over the Myspace music thing, I simply don't have anything better to do with my mornings, so I may as well write a little. I always enjoyed it, even if there's nobody out there listening. And truth be told, that's probably for the better being that I don't have anything even remotely important to say.

Enjoy yourselves and each other, until next time....
