I'm back...with a little Infinite Playlist flavor - Knock Knock

Got back into town today from my Philly/New York double feature, and I am exhausted. Beyond exhausted. I've got lots of pictures and whatnot to post over the next couple of days, and I also saw a couple of movies which I plan to talk about at some point this week. For now though, I'm gonna post a quick video from the most important part of my trip, the Flyers game in Philly vs the Islanders. Big, huge deal for me and to be perfectly honest, it overwhelmed me a little. I had an absolute blast though, got to see a Ilya Bryzgalov vs Evgeni Nabokov goaltender match-up, which I wouldn't have been able to do a couple years ago as both of them played for teams out West (Coyotes and Sharks respectively). I also got to see Jaromir Jagr again, thanks to his coming back to the NHL this season and joining my Flyers, returning from a three year stint spent playing hockey in Russia. I previously saw him with the Pittsburgh Penguins when they visited the Thrashers in Atlanta during their inaugural season. Anyway, here's the highlights of Flyers/Islanders from last Thursday. I'm sure nobody watched that video, but trust me it was a good time. This season, the Flyers have officially adopted Mac Miller's "Knock Knock" as their official victory anthem, and so I've decided to add it to my Infinite Playlist. It's a catchy little song, and I dig Mac's style, in all of it's Kid Cudi-esque glory. First I'm posting a little clip about how the song is the Flyers adopted victory song from the excellent HBO 24/7 documentary about the Flyers/Rangers rivalry, followed by the entire song. Enjoy.

Drop the Puck!

The greatest sport on Earth returns tonight! The puck drops on the 2011/2012 NHL regular season, and my Flyers are once again poised to rightfully claim Lord Stanley's Cup as their own. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend many games this season, if I'm able to attend any at all. My beloved Atlanta Thrashers sadly are no more, the team was sold and relocated to Winnipeg during the off season. I'm still extremely upset about it, and will continue to call bullshit for a couple of reasons. Winnipeg lost it's last hockey team to Phoenix ARIZONA. A city in CANADA lost it's ICE HOCKEY team to ARIZONA. Fuckers don't deserve my team. The other reason being there are worse teams in the league, who have longer playoff droughts and have consistently lower attendance. I'm looking at YOU, Florida Panthers and Phoenix Coyotes. Yes, the exact same Phoenix Coyotes that originally moved from Winnipeg. Why couldn't they just move the fuck back there and leave my Thrashers alone?

Anyway, at least I've found a way to remedy my hockey drought. As hard as it is to believe, there's actually a triple-A team that plays only 30 minutes from the Batcave, the Columbus Cottonmouths. If you've never seen triple-A hockey, you really should. They aren't getting paid much, and thus are ten times as angry as the pros. In the same building as the Cottonmouths, the greatest University in the entire world, Auburn, also began playing hockey last year. While they're definitely going through growing pains as they've just entered the world of collegiate hockey, that certainly doesn't make them any less fun to watch, or do anything to stop me from going and cheering on my Tigers. Finally, in order to at least get to watch some NHL hockey, I bought the NHL Gamecenter app for my PS3, and signed up for Gamecenter Live. With my subscription, I'll get up to 40 live games a week in HD, plus I get access to the NHL Vault where I can watch tons of classic games. Bet your ass the first thing I watched was my Flyers winning the Stanley Cup for the first time in 1974. So as you can see, I've got almost all my bases covered. Bring on the hockey!

Flyers visit Atlanta, Mister Bones follows.

Mister Bones loves the hockey. Mister Bones loves the Thrashers. Mister Bones REALLY loves the Philadelphia Flyers though. Last night I took a trip to Philips Arena in Atlanta to see my Flyers once again battle the Thrashers. It's always weird going into my home stadium wearing the opposition's jersey, but the Flyers are the only team I will root for over Atlanta. That being said, I also went in kinda torn as to who I really wanted to get the victory. On the one hand, I always want my Flyers to win, but on the other hand, the Thrashers are playing with desperation to get into the playoffs, so they need every point they can get right now. Philly is sitting atop the Eastern Conference, with playoffs guaranteed already.

In the end, I couldn't have been happier with how the game played out. The Flyers scored to tie the game at 3 with 1:24 left to force overtime, which guaranteed both teams at least one point. With the game still tied after the overtime period, we went to the shootout. The Thrashers ended up winning the shootout and getting the two points, with the Flyers going away with one. Good stuff, and while I'm always disappointed when the Flyers lose, I suppose this one time it's ok. I have pics again, and this time they aren't all of the ice girls! Also note, I'm not sure if you can tell or not, but my favorite players are always the goalies. Enjoy.

Super Sunday

Obligatory Super Bowl post today. I'm pretty much indifferent to both teams this year, but if I have to pull for somebody I'm going with the Steelers. I'm still mad at the Packers for embarrassing my Falcons a couple of weeks ago, and I'm sick and tired of watching Aaron Rodgers do that stupid ass "championship belt" move he does all the time. You're playing football, not wrasslin' dick head. Anyway, happy Super Sunday folks, enjoy the following pictures of football fans supporting their favorite team.

Hockey Night in Atlanta

That's right kids, tonight I'm braving the mean, cold streets of Atlanta, Georgia to watch my beloved Atlanta Thrashers take on a team that I hate almost as bad as I hate the Pittsburgh Penguins and Alabama Crimson Tide, the collective douchebaggery known as the New York Rangers. I used to be indifferent to the Rangers, but then they let Sean Avery play hockey for them, and went on to sweep my Thrashers the one and only time we made the playoffs, thus cementing my hatred of them. So here's a gigantic FUCK YOU from the Batcave to the Rangers, and here are some pictures of Atlanta's "Blue Crew" Ice Girls for my Legion of Loyal Followers because I love you all so much.

The Guardian Project

In some sort of strange attempt at crossing over comics and hockey, the NHL has teamed with Stan Lee to create 30 new superheroes, or "Guardians" for the NHL All-Star Game this year. Based on fan voting, we will see a new Guardian unveiled every day this month until all 30 have been revealed. They will then do battle or something at the All-Star Game in February.

I'm going to post a few of my favorites from those that have been shown, but to be honest I'm not entirely blown away by any of the character designs so far, nor am I all that jazzed about the concept itself. And by the way, why the hell is the Devils Guardian a fucking horse?! Remember when Upper Deck had comic artists turn athletes into superheroes for that "Fanimation" trading card set? Yeah it wasn't really cool then, and it's not really cool now, although I do like the idea of the mascots being characters instead of actual players.

But if you're interested, you can go here to cast your vote for which Guardian will be next, despite the overall "meh" feeling I get from what I've seen so far, I gotta admit I want to see the rest of them. Particularly interested in my Atlanta Thrashers of course. In any event, no matter how lame The Guardian Project may end up being, at the very least I'm 100% sure it won't be any worse than Stan Lee's Sci-Fi reality series, "Who Wants to be a Superhero?" which I still have crippling nightmares about.

Game Time

No more talk, no more haters, no more speculation, this is IT. Tonight is the night, my #1 Auburn Tigers vs the #2 team in the nation, the Oregon Ducks for the BCS college football national championship. I know I should say things like "win or lose, it's been a great year" or "I'm just glad we made it this far", or even "who cares about this one, we fucking beat Alabama, that's all that counts". Well, yes, all of those things are true, but I want this bad, guys. It feels like a once in a lifetime chance, and to be perfectly honest I need a win right now. I shouldn't care this much about a football game, in fact other than the fact that I grew up in my father's house and he attended Auburn University, I'm not even sure why I care so much, but I do.

So lets' go tonight Tigers, win one for Bonesy! I'll still love you if you don't, but this is like "Make-a-Wish Foundation" important to me right now, so do your best, mkay?

It's been a big year for my family as both my brother and myself have been seen on ESPN, as I was in Auburn when College Gameday was in town for the Clemson game. Imagine how proud my dad must be, both of his sons on ESPN, haha.
